Join the Guggenheim Museum in 45 minute Zoom sessions to view and create your own art from home.

School Programs

Aims to provide a sound museum experience combined with art-making for students on the spectrum. These sessions familiarize teachers of students on the autism spectrum with tools to address communication and socialization through the power of art. 


Virtual Programs

Designed for students on the autism spectrum and with sensory sensitivities. Each session is customized for the specific needs of each group and includes asynchronous content meant to introduce the Guggenheim museum’s collection to students.

Virtual Exhibition

Explore the virtual exhibition which holds the artwork of participants from the Guggenheim For All: Art for Families with Children on the Autism Spectrum program.

A program that welcomes kids of all abilities. The Sensory Room is an inclusive environment where children with special needs can engage in sensory exploration. The interactive equipment provides visual, auditory, tactile, vestibular, and motor coordination tasks for a sensory experience. This space is welcoming to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

“Access Family Workshops” is a program offered by the Jewish Museum for children and adults with ADD and their families. In these events for families with children who have developmental or learning difficulties, visitors view art and then make their own piece. Included in workshops are gallery activities, an art project, and refreshments.

​​Before the Museum opens to the general public, the Whitney Museum welcomes families with children on the autistic spectrum to participate in sensory-friendly exhibition activities and a hands-on art-making class. During this drop-in workshop, families will explore a current Whitney exhibition and make artworks inspired by the pieces on display. This program occurs every three months for children aged 6 and older.

Based in New York City, the program provides those on the Autism spectrum and with other developmental difficulties with arts-based enrichment sessions. They provide lessons and experiences that incorporate fundamental skills such as communication, movement, language development, and ensemble building into enjoyable activities. In an entertaining environment, participants learn to follow directions, increase their attention span, and enhance social interaction. In a secure and inclusive setting, their team of educators, performers, and teaching artists facilitates relationships via artistic expression.

Located at the 14th Street Y, The Arts RX Program is a New York City-based organization that conducts a creative arts therapy playgroup for children with special needs. Using a wide range of techniques, therapists incorporate creative activities into group settings to aid in the development of social skills among group members. With a maximum of eight children per age group and a teacher-to-student ratio of two-to-one, the playgroups provide a highly supported creative atmosphere in a setting that is developmentally appropriate.
